Anti-Gift Registries

So the hard part of dealing with the insurance company and getting money for my stuff is coming up with a list of the stuff. Stuff like furniture and computers electronics and whatnot is pretty easy. Stuff like fingernail clippers, note paper, and paper clips is much harder to remember, not to mention come up with prices for. What I did yesterday was to take a friend to Target and signed up for a gift registry. They then gave me a scanner and I was able to walk around the store saying, "Oh, yeah, I had one of those," or "Dang, who knew that lint brushes were so expensive?" I now have a internet-accessible list of the stuff and prices for most of it. Getting it into a form that can be pasted into a spreadsheet is a little bit of a bother, but it's nowhere near as bad as typing the stuff. Later today I'm off to Williams-Sonoma and some department store in the mall.

This is an interesting kind of shopping to do because everything that I "buy" is actually money that I'll get. It's a world turned upside down.

Please don't think I want anyone to buy any of these things for me. The links are here for your entertainment and my records.
